What a Girl Wants

Carla Humphries, the doe-eyed international model, and willowy ingénue of the local small and silver screen, may seem untouchable. The 20 year-old sets things straight with 24/7, and gets real about being a klutz, getting recognized on the street, shopping, and what she really wants for Christmas.

You keep on saying that you're a klutz, but it's hard to believe that, looking at you now.

When I was younger, in Paris , I broke my arm twice on roller skates. The third time was when I fell from a horse while modelling. When I was in school, I broke my left hand and my left knee. I fell down the stairs when I was in the swimming team. My teammate was brushing my wet hair while we were going down the stairs and she tugged too hard and I fell down.



Do you still get embarrassed whenever that happens?

Being accident-prone helps me be more kenkoy (goofy). When you fall down a lot, you don't get embarrassed anymore. You're used to it. Oftentimes in acting, you take on a character that oftentimes makes a fool of herself. It helps me that way.

You've been in a few soaps now, like ABS CBN's Bituing Walang Ningning and Abt Ur Luv , and the movie For the First Time with KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez, do you get recognized on the street now?

I don't expect it, but people actually know who I am. And whenever somebody does recognize me, it's flattering, but at the same time, I always hope that whenever my fans see me, I would not be doing anything embarrassing.

You seem like a girl who likes shopping. Is that true?

I like shopping, but I'm a one-time-big-time person because I'm also very kuripot (stingy) — but not with my parents' money (laughs). I like buying things for people and I don't mind spending a lot of my money on them. If it's for myself, I think about it a hundred times before buying it, but curiously I end up buying things that I don't get to use and losing out on purchases that I really like.

 

If you can have anything in the world, what would you put on your wish list?

1. I want to be able to travel the world and learn about cultures. 
   
2. I want to be a princess. 
   
3. I want to learn how to speak all the languages so no matter which country I go to, I would be able to converse with the locals with ease. 
   
4. I want to go to Hollywood, and win an award. 
   
5. I want to act in a biographical movie of a famous person.
   
6. I want to own a country.

In Ligaw na Bulaklak as Precious

The final episode of Ligaw na Bulaklak aired in October 2008.

Carla portrays Precious. Originally Lea’s enemy at the foster home, she becomes Lea's good friend when Lea saves her from attack. The two eventually move to the boarding house of Mrs. Reyes. 

Character subplots include a love triangle with Fatima and the ill-fated Michael, working on the streets as a promo girl, getting kidnapped and cut in the face by Dennis, before fleeing at last to the province to escape her problems.

John James Uy admits dating Carla Humphries

Model-turned-actor John James Uy revealed his special bond with young actress Carla Humphries and added that they are now on ‘exclusively dating’ terms.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Uy shared that Humphries, who is now in Bangkok, Thailand is really special to him and a nice person to be with.

“It’s about ten months now since I first met her. It’s going well and going strong. We’d been dating for a while now but exclusive naman iyon,” he said.

Uy said that a proof that they really get along together, Humphries already shared her life and even her past affair with actor Janus del Prado.

“Iyong past niya dati sinasabi niya lahat ng ginawa nila o anong ginawa niya. It doesn’t affect me because I’m the one with her now,” he said.

Uy said that he’s happy that del Prado and Humphries are now friends.

“I’m okay with them being friends. They still talk naman,” he said.

Uy and del Prado now work together for ABS-CBN’s upcoming afternoon series “Pieta” with Cherie Gil and Ryan Agoncillo.

In the series, Uy will be playing the role of a rich guy who’s in love with Krista Ranillo, who is the girlfriend of Agoncillo. His character will turn bad and become Agoncillo’s rival.

“I’m really excited first series project ko ito so I’m gonna do my best,” he said.

Uy admitted that at first he was hesitant to do play a villain role but eventually he found it more challenging.

“I’m trying my best and I’m hoping for the best that this project will lead to more projects for me. I’m very thankful for this,” Uy ended.

The newbie star appealed to people to look at him as the new John James Uy: a more mature star and an actor.

Week 11, Friday, Day 055

Michael visits Precious at the boarding house and tries to explain his relationship with Fatima. Precious asks him to not bother trying because she knows that it was all her fault. She was the one who first left him. He was already hers, and she was the one who was stupid enough to let him go.



Michael asks her not to think of their past relationship in that way. He reminds her that they have a lot of good memories. Precious says that's what makes it worse; she knows she won't ever feel the way she used to feel when they were together.



Michael apologizes again as he cradles her face in his hands. Precious holds on to his hands one last time before pushing him away. Tearfully, she asks him to leave and says she doesn't want to see him anymore. She watches as he turns and leaves.
